The new STEM centre at Kolbe Catholic College adds a dynamic learning centre to the exsiting campus focusing on excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics.
RDLA worked with the consultant team led by Smith + Tracey Architects to integrate the new building into the existing setting through the creation of 2 new outdoor learning spaces, precast concrete seating, decking, a boardwalk and a natural dry creek bed and with scattered boulders and and native planting. The scheme also required careful consideration of site levels and the existing overland flow framework on the campus and we worked closely with the consulting Engineers to resolve the design. The materials palette compliments the STEM building ethos with natural, warm materials and forms offering functional external spaces for students and staff to enjoy as well as pleasant, leafy outlooks from various points inside the building.
RDLA were involved on the project from schematic design through design development, detailed and design, construciton and completion on site.
