This landscape concept plan for the Homestyle Ferntree Gully aged care redevelopment creates a series of secure, garden-focused outdoor environments that support resident wellbeing, movement, and social interaction. The scheme wraps the building with layered perimeter planting, shaded walking paths, sensory gardens, and multiple internal courtyards, including dedicated dementia-friendly spaces with circular paths and central seating features. A strong emphasis is placed on retaining existing mature trees where possible, integrating soft lawn areas, raised planters, and communal gathering spaces to create a calm, residential character while improving accessibility, arrival experience, and visual amenity throughout the site.
Our role included guiding the landscape outcomes through the town planning process, coordinating with Council to achieve endorsement approvals, and developing the design into a fully resolved and buildable landscape solution. This involved integrating accessibility, planting, materials, and resident-focused outdoor spaces to ensure the final environment supports both operational requirements and resident wellbeing within a cohesive aged care setting.
